Thames Water has joined forces with another big name in data provision by procuring a channel licence from Land Data, for accessing the National Land Information Service (NLIS) Hub. NLIS turned ten years old in 2011 and has become a successful hub for authoritative data. We have taken this step in order to ensure that we can deliver the fastest possible turn around times and an unrivalled level of customer service.

OSCRE is a set of business process definitions and rules (XML Schema) that automate the transfer of data between different software applications used regularly by the property market. Thames Water Property Searches' OSCRE compliant interface will enable a seamless flow of information between ourselves, our customers and our suppliers, thereby improving customer satisfaction and service efficiency.

OS MasterMap® is a database that records every fixed feature of Great Britain larger than a few metres in one continuous digital map. Every feature is given a unique TOID (TOpographical IDentifier) - a simple identifier that includes no semantic information. Typically each TOID is associated with a polygon that represents the area on the ground that the feature covers, in National Grid coordinates.
OS MasterMap® data is never more than a few months out of date, thanks to continuous review and around 440 million TOIDs have so far been assigned across the UK.
